I woke up this morning to the sound of rain.

At first, I didn’t know what it was. A soft, undulating hiss. Gas leak was my first thought, and I went back to sleep. Not a smart move, no — but in my defence, nodding off during a gas leak is the most natural thing in the world. I certainly wouldn’t be the first.
